SWFC 2007 is being held at KCNO airport in Chino, CA. This location was chosen based on several criteria:
- High probability of good VFR weather
- High concentration of flight leads and safety pilots based there & very close by
- Multiple long & wide runways (for formation takeoffs and landings)
- Crosswind runway
- Availability of nearby practice areas
- Indoor/sheltered area for ground school, briefings, etc. (restroom, seating room, etc.)
- Transient parking space available
- Availability of 100LL fuel
- Restaurant on site
- Nearby hotel (in Chino Hills) and possible overflow at "Casa Checkoway"
The self-serve fuel island is located in the northeast corner of the airport, very close to the north hangars (where the clinic will be held).
Transient parking...tiedowns are available at the base of the tower. Please bring your own ropes and chocks to secure your airplane.
The clinic will be centered around hangar K-10 in the "north hangars." It's on the southwest corner of the "K" row, opening/facing south. The red blotch on the map shows where the hangar is, and the yellow arrows show the best taxi routes from runways 26L and 26R. Here is a map of that corner of the airport:

If you are unfamiliar, please contact us for details on arrival procedures into Chino. Below is a suggested procedure for arriving from the northwest. This method keeps you clear of all airspace (other than KCNO Class D) and doesn't require contact with any ATC facility other than Chino Tower.
- Cruising at 9500' (or higher) provides adequate terrain clearance on routes arriving from the GMN/LHS or PMD areas.
- After passing Mt. Wilson, descend to 3500' to pass overhead KEMT (El Monte).
- Turn direct KCNO (heading approximately 100°)
- Once beyond KEMT's Class D surface area, descend to 2500'. This will keep you below Ontario's Class C airspace.
- Monitor Chino ATIS on 125.85.
- Contact Chino tower on 118.5 within 10 miles of KCNO (I usually report inbound over Diamond Bar or Chino Hills).
- Plan to enter right traffic to 26R at KCNO.
